“For To Us a Child is Born,” a magazine exploring themes about the incarnation of Christ and the Christmas season has just been published by the Department of Religious Education. The twenty-page, full-color, magazine describes the feasts of the Annunciation, the Nativity of Christ, Theophany, and Presentation of the Lord. In each the story of the feast is told and the icon is explained. In addition, the magazine contains stories of Saints Nicholas and Basil, the story of the Vasilopita, as well as texts of hymns for the feasts. “For To Us a Child is Born” is written for ages 12 and up.
A Teachers Edition containing four lessons for use in parish religious education programs and parochial schools is near completion. In addition, the Center for Family Care of the Archdiocese has prepared a guide for parents with activities that a family can do at home that uses the magazine. You can download the guide by clicking here. The Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is preparing retreats that also use the magazine.
